HISTORY
The SUWMA
In 1959 a group of women in the Sekondi Wesley Methodist Church, led by Mrs Hannah Ato Ahomah, came together to support the church by cleaning, decorating and serving refreshments during Synods. In 1960 the group was inaugurated and named Methodist Ladies Association by Rev Dr F.C.F Grant. The uniform then was green and white with the slogan BELOVED, LET US LOVE.
A few years after that, other branches of the Methodist Ladies Association sprung up nationwide. The Association went through many phases until in 1988 during Conference, The Most Rev Dr Jacob A. Stephens proposed the name SUSANNA WESLEY MISSION AUXILIARY as the name for the association. He thought it as a suitable name because Susanna was the mother of John and Charles Wesley hence as the mother of Methodism she had to be recognized.
