The Youth Fellowship
HISTORY
The MYF
The Methodist Church, Ghana in time past had two main active youth organizations which catered for the needs of the people in the church. The two are the Methodist Guild and the Methodist Youth Fellowship. Later, the Methodist Guild and the Methodist Youth Fellowship were separated to undertake different religious roles in the Church.
In 1944 and 1945, the Synod of the then Gold Coast Methodist Church, appointed a sub-committee to re-examine the church’s youth work. The committee recommended the establishment of a youth fellowship that will be opened to educated young men and women thus separating it from the Methodist Guild.
In 1946, the first Fellowship was formed in Cape Coast in the Central Region and was out doored as, the Methodist Youth Fellowship with M.Y.F. as its abbreviation. The Methodist Youth Fellowship, therefore, exists to nurture young people in the church with Christian doctrines, help the spiritual growth of young people in the church and work to support the growth of the Church.
