THE GIRLS BRIGADE

In 1893, it became necessary that a Girls’ Brigade be formed to introduce ladies into the Brigade Company of the Church. The Girls’ Brigade then started in Dublin in 1893. The aim was “The extension of Christ’s Kingdom among girls” based on the twin pillars, Bible Class and Physical Training.

The Girls’ Brigade remains a vital part of the Methodist Church and provides an opening for evangelistic work, spiritual growth and practical Christian training for girls in the Methodist Church.

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE CHURCH AND THE BOYS’ AND GIRLS’ BRIGADE

The Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade is an Inter-Church Organization. The local Companies can be formed at the request of a Church. Church Members have a responsibility to both officers and the Company in supporting them with practical help and prayer.
